We all wish she would tickle our ivories. God I just thought a most excellent extension of that joke that’s too crude to post ::sigh::
Annnyway, for those of you who’ve been around since the beginning, this is a huge payoff. We’ve been waiting for this for a while. And it’s nothing short of inspiring. Susan is beautiful, she plays Affettuoso, and Sito dramatizes it wonderfully with his creative filming.
This is apparently a song by The Academy called “Down and Out.” I’m probably stupid, because I’ve never heard of them, but it doesn’t matter because nothing they’ve recorded could live up to Susan’s interpretation. The tricky part is, now that she’s played for us, I think we’re all going to want more.
Susan and Sito also posted a new photo each from the shoot they did at that skanky death-trap of a house in Mississauga. You can find them here and here. Oh, and I just found another one here.
UPDATE: I just read on Sito’s interview with MuzeMagazine that he’s working on a photo book called Phenomena that will showcase his and Susan’s work together, as well as some new material that we’ve never seen before. Sweet.
Thanks to CrazyCrankle, we have a new shot of Susan. This is from that Diverxity thing that I mentioned a few months ago. I’ve thrown this one in the Unknown album for a couple of reasons, but the bottom line is I don’t see there being much more surfacing from this shoot.
And now for something completely different…
You know him as the guy who put together the Susan Coffey photo archive download. You know him as a regular contributor and commenter here on SusanCoffey.net. You know him as Penifest09. Or maybe you don’t know him at all. But you’ll get to know him, because Pen (as I like to call him) will begin posting occasionally here on SusanCoffey.net shortly. Frankly I’m a bit burnt out on Daily Susans and Weekly Photographers, so we need someone to help fill in those gaps, and I believe Pen is just the man for the job.
As such, we’ll be signing our posts with our usernames. Because you care deeply.
Susan Coffey in Maxim en Espanol, August 2012.
It’s easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. That said, tons of other fansites post scans of magazines, so I’m not too worried. Of course, don’t forget that all the photos were taken by Sito Alvina. Click the photo to see all the images. And if you’re in Mexico, go buy the damn issue.
Here is my best effort at a rough translation of all the relevant text:
You know the infinite seductive innocence of Susan Coffey last year in our pages and wanted more. Very well, she returns to show you because redheads will dominate the world.
Maxim: Go. Seven months have passed since you appeared for the first time in Maxim. We received tons of emails that asked for your return…
Susan: I’m surprised, but also I think that’s fantastic. It’s very exciting. And in truth I’m very thankful for all the enthusiasm everyone’s shown.
M: What has changed in your life since then?
S: I’ve noticed a great increase in my number of fans and I believe that’s due to my appearance in the magazine, because now a large number of my fans are from Mexico City, and many new followers speak Spanish. It surprised me a lot. I also have maintained a constant flow of work so that they will always have something new to see.
M: Many of your fans follow you on the Internet. How is your relationship with them?
S: I believe that the social networks I’m a part of allow two-way communication. Thanks to that, my fans have contact with all my work as a model. On the other hand, I’m able to learn if my fans are happy with what I do. I don’t always communicate directly with them, but I’m interested in the feedback. It helps a lot to know everyone’s opinion.
M: And what do your followers ask you? Besides asking for marriage, clearly…
S: It’s a little difficult to say, because I receive all kinds of comments. Many of them are quite crazy. That’s very interesting (laughs). For example, many people ask me that I do photoshoots where I’m a little more natural and they are not enthused so much when I take photos with a lot of makeup or high fashion. So I test to see if some new ideas work. It’s very useful for me.
M: We read in Cosmopolitan that the people under the sign of Aquarius are misunderstood geniuses…
S. Clearly. I’m completely just like that (laughs). Also, I know that Aquariuses are a little shy and quiet, something that is definitely me. It’s very complicated to be an introverted person and be dedicated to modeling.
M: You were shy in the second shoot or the first one?
S: I’m still somewhat shy (laughs).
M: Recent studies confirm that redheads are more sexy and men prefer them now, compared to blondes or brunettes. Is this a passing fashion or you are carrying a powerful secret to dominate the world?
S: I believe that’s due to redheads being different. I like to have red hair because I stand out in a crowd and that pleases me. But also I believe that it’s a fashion and that the demand for girls with red hair is on the rise. And that’s because you see redheads less frequently than brunettes or blondes.
M: We are addicts of the flaming hair. Are there some redheads that you admire?
S: Huh… You mean a natural redhead? Because I like Scarlet Johansson with red hair.
M: Completely in agreement with you. What do you do for fun when you’re not modeling?
S: I like to do things outdoors, go exploring, like geocaching, finding animals. I love animals.
M: You like to photograph with wild animals? Can you describe an encounter you’ve had with a wild animal?
S: Only that I like to trap small frogs (laughs). Other than that, no.
M: What qualities would a guy need to have to get to go out with you?
S: Well, I already have a boyfriend… but in general, I like that men be honest, sweet, and authentic.
M: Susan, did you hear that? That was the sound of many hearts breaking in Mexico City.
S: (Laughs) I imagine.
M: What would be the first thing that you would do if they suddenly announced on TV that the zombie apocalypse had started?
S: Probably, I would go for my pets and my family, and would hide all of us in the basement. Maybe I’d look for a little food. Yes, that’s what I would do.
If you dream of Susan, here’s some information to occupy your fantasies.
M: If you are going out to eat…
S: Bagels. I simply love bagels.
M: If someone were to rescue you from danger…
S: I like Iron Man!
M: If you’re bringing a movie to someone’s house…
S: My favorite movie is Groundhog Day.
M: If you are going to play a game online…
S: World of Warcraft.
M: If you’re going to chat about a book…
S: Uf, Good Omens.
M: If you were to ask for an autograph…
S: Joseph Gordon Levitt. Yes, him.
M: If you are going to dedicate a song to someone…
S: Raw Sugar, by Metric.
Susan’s Philosophy of Life
I believe in karma, that “what you do, always returns to you.”
S: To be sexy, you need to surround yourself with mystery. You don’t have to give it all or show it all. Do it without stopping being feminine and attractive.
